Breeding Stimulus Forum

Les Camarda, Joanne Andersen & Neil Piper from the Association along with many major players in the NSW Breeding industry including John Coffey & Paul Robinson - Alabar Farms, Rod Woodhouse – Yirribee, Don & Mary Moon, Janet Moore – Brooklyn Lodge, Jackie & Mary Gibson – Success  Stud, John Starr, Andrew Daniels – Calderwood Farm, Trevor Swan, Rob Nalder, Peter Plummer, Wally Mann, John Heath, Rod Smith, Peter & Marie Neil,  Terry Neil, Don Clough, Lorraine Pozza & Mal Moody recently attended an open Breeders Forum at Penrith Paceway conducted by HRNSW, CEO, Sam Nati & racing Manager Joel Fowler.

The forum was designed to openly discuss stimulus enhancements proposed by this association in an earlier meeting held between our executive committee and Sam Nati at his Bankstown office.

We worked long and hard to come up with a range of enhancements we believe would assist in stimulating the NSW breeding industry both in the short and long term, for both mare & stallion owners.  Of course there were many, many more ideas and improvements we could have suggested, but we chose to concentrate on possibly the top 5, that we believed would assist NSW breeding in the greatest way whilst being realistic with the costing involved.

Some of the items discussed included Mares racing, the structure of both the Statebred bonus scheme & Breeders Challenge series, registration costs and the introduction of a Breeders bonus.

The forum was well received by all in attendance and everyone got to have their say on all matters and we would like to thank Sam for taking this very open approach in discussion with some of the major players in the NSW breeding industry.

Suggestions and ideas from the forum have since been structured and presented to the HRNSW Board for their consideration.

Hopefully we will have some more news shortly once the Board has reviewed the enhancements and the appropriate costing, on when and what can be implemented to again stimulate the breeding industry in NSW.
